For the past week, I've been having this really bothersome (and annoying) sensation where my lungs feel like they aren't filling up. Every 4th or so breath, I have to take a really, super deep breath in order to fill my lungs, and even then I still barely feel like I'm getting enough oxygen.
On top of that, my chest right at my sternum has been really sore, especially when taking those deep breaths. Kind of like I've been punched in the chest or the way your chest/lungs are sore after you've been coughing for weeks on end. But I haven't been coughing.
On top of that on top of THAT, I've been feeling a really strong heart beat or two in that same sternum area like 10 times a day. That's what has freaked me out the most.
Last night it peaked and I had a hard time breathing while I was trying to fall asleep, and I freaked out.
So I finally went to MedCheck this morning. Apparently I (finally) had good timing there, because there were only 2 people ahead of me. By the time I left, they were telling people that there were 8-10 people ahead of them, plus there were people in the waiting room waiting for rooms.
They listened to my lungs and did all of the usual stuff. The doctor didn't hear anything in my lungs, so it wasn't pneumonia or bronchitis (thankfully). They took my blood oxygen levels and then did a breathing machine treatment on me that should have de-constricted my airways, but the post treatment numbers weren't really better.
Finally the doctor explained that there is something causing my airways to close, very similar to people who have asthma. He prescribed me an inhaler for that.
He explained that the pain in my chest was from inflammation of the joint where my ribs come together at my sternum. Apparently, a lot of women get this and mistake it for heart attacks or something. And this inflammation explains the heart beats I kept feeling. So he prescribed me a prescription-strength anti-inflammatory for that.
So I don't feel better yet...but I should in the next couple of days. I'm SO glad that it's not an actual illness of some sort that would really knock me out and make working really difficult.
Man, what a fun way to spend my day off. Actually, it wasn't so bad, because my mom and I went shopping for some clothes (with this summer's work in mind) as a Valentine's present for me. That was pretty fun.

Again, I sing the praises of Zappos.com. Seriously, if you've never used them, then do it. Now. Best.Place.On.Earth. I tried another site, zbsports.com, to order the same shoes because they were cheaper on there, but believe me, the $9 I woulda saved was NOT WORTH IT.
Tech is...well, it's tech. It went pretty well, although we haven't actually finished teching the show (but to no fault of stage management and the PAs :) ). Three 13 hour days in a row was rough. Today's my day off, and then the rest of the week will be pretty rough, but hopefully not as rough as this weekend.
I got some tragic news this weekend...on Thursday I got a facebook message from a girl at SMC who lived in my hall first year, and who I knew relatively well. She and I share a very good mutual friends. Well, she told me that this friend of ours', one of my closest friends at SMC, I'd say, mother passed away. I'm still completely in shock, and I cannot even begin to imagine how she must be feeling. I'm totally heartbroken for her and her family. I know how close and tight knit they were (very similar to me and mine). If you're the praying type, please send some extra prayers towards Buffalo, NY this week.

I've got a theory...
So I was driving home from Frankie's tonight around 12:30am, and a woman was walking along the side of the road, going with traffic mind you, pulling a carry on sized suitcase. Weird. What are your theories on where she was going/what she was doing??? By the time I got home (a 10 minute drive), I had fashioned a very dramatic story about her leaving a dirt bag boyfriend and what not. Very exciting stuff to compliment my very boring life.I arrived home to a super hyper Bailey at the front door who ran all around downstairs. Then I turned off the lights and walked up stairs to be scared half to death by MooMoo standing on the landing. In the dark, all you can see of her is her eyes and the white stripe on her chest. To many, it would be scary, but she was wagging her tail and hammin it up for me.
We watched Kate & Leopold tonight. It was adorable, and I'm surprised I've never seen it.
Hopefully tomorrow mom and I are will go (back) down to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I've been with my Aunt K (twice), but not with the mom.
The top picture is 4 out of 5 of "the girls" at our senior band camp in high school. The bottom is the 4 of us last night for Crabs' going away. That's a five year difference, but we've been together for 8. Nostalgia anyone???

Happy RED, WHITE and 'Deep BLUE Sea" DAY!
I'm in Michigan for the weekend. Clio, MI to be exact. It's a teeny-tiny little town about 20 miles north of Flint. My godparents/aunt&uncle live here. They have 2 daughters, one is 8 years older than me, and one is somewhere between 10 and 12 years older than me. Kristina, the 8+ cousin, had a baby in November, and we got to meet her for the first time today. Here is the happpppy baby Morgan getting a quick sink bath before dinner out:
While I don't get to see any fireworks this Fourth of July (although some will be done with Connor and Jack next week, I'm sure), it's pretty great. Morgan is the single happiest baby in the world. I have never heard a baby talk as much as she does; Kris said she was born cooing and what not. And she has the most expressive face and eyes ever.
I don't get to see this family very often, and the two cousins less than my aunt and uncle, so it's always a nice visit. Plenty of talking about/making fun of/story telling gets done about the Flanigan side of my family by my dad and uncle (the non-blood-Flanigans) that always makes it so much more interesting. I get to hear all sorts of stories about my grandparents when they were young, and my great grandparents too. Of course, there are a couple of stories that get told every time-some because they are important enough to be told every time, and others because my uncle will say "have I told you the one about...?", forgetting he tells it every year. It's generally a good time.
There is the BIGGEST OUTLET MALL EVER a few miles away up here, which my mom was vague about whether or not we would be going. A trip to Michigan on the 4th of July without bout fire works AND the outlet mall? Not fair. My aunt announced this afternoon that tomorrow, after a big sit down breakfast with fresh sausage links and scones, we are going. Hoooorayy!
Also, I brought a few movies to watch on my laptop during the 6 hour car ride. Of course I slept the whole way up here so I wouldn't get car sick, so I didn't watch any. I brought one of my FAVORITE movies EVER-The American President. I grabbed it out of my backpack to watch tonight while I go to sleep, and I just realized how coincidentally patriotic of me it is.
Lastly, remind me to tell you the Story Of The Unbuyable Book Quest And Its Conquering. It's a doozy.

who doesnt want to do that?
2 things that irk me terribly.
Thing #1: When you take the time, especially first thing in the morning, to run the water in the tub to get it to the right temperature and then no matter what you do, when you flip the switch to turn it from tub to shower the first blast is FREEZING. I absolutely HATE that. It actually makes me feel sick to my stomach for a minute or two. Ok, and yeah, I understand the reason WHY it does that...the water has been sitting in the pipes since you (or your roommate) last showered and that water isn't warm. But still. So you say "Why not flip the switch before you climb in?" Because, if you're like me either A) you don't think that hard in the morning or B) you have a shower that if you move the curtain just slightly, no matter what you do, sprays all over the floor and the only thing that is worse that that cold shot of water, is stomping around on a soaked floor while you're trying to get spiffied up. Or even still C) eve if you do do that, because of the way the shower head sprays, it's still freezing for the first moment it's on your skin no matter how you play your cards.
Thing #2: Grocery store parking lots. I won't elaborate, because I'm sure everyone has experienced this at some point in time. For one reason or another lately, every grocery store parking lot I've been to has been getting worse and worse. Fuck groceries, I'm eating dirt.
And something happy to make up for all the ranting gloom: Celebration of the curvy and voluptuous celebrity.

thats what you want in a...
My mom and I are driving home from doing some retail therapy (her choice not mine) tonight at Keystone. It's raining out and super dark. I'm in the straight/right turn lane and there is a left turn lane next to me. Light turns green. I proceed through the intersection. I'm like 2/3 of the way through the intersection and mom yells "OH SHIT" and I slam on the brakes. What else would I do??? I thought the jerk (I mean, you always just ASSUME he's a jerk) in the left turn lane decided to go straight and was gonna plow into me. I turn to look at my mom and finally hear/see a police car FLYING towards us so I get our ass out of the intersection. Mom starts to yell (not like made yell, just being obnoxious like we are to each other, all in good fun) at me "why the hell would you slow down?!?" "MOM! What am I supposed to think when you just scream OH SHIT at me??!!" It was really quite humorous. after we finished bitching at each other, I realized we could have died and wondered (aloud) if dad would be able to return the massive amounts of Yves Saint Laurent makeup we just bought and get some money back. My brilliant mother (literally, she's a certifiable genius, just not always real bright) says "well, probably not since it would have gone up in flames with us."
That's my mom and I for you :) She also tried to get into a dirty sexual joke banter with me at dinner (at McAlisters', btw) and honestly expected to win. Right. HA.
Also, bought super cute jean skirt at Old Navy today. The best part? More than a size smaller than the last pair of bottoms I bought there :)!!!
TOmorrow=B-town for Fur's birthday and to see his show. Hopefully it stops raining by then.

you're hired?
So, the wedding. In Houston.
It was a good time. Minus me being sick and all. But it was a beautiful ceremony and a fancy reception. I was included as part of the extended family and all, which was fantastic. ANd it was great to see these people that I haven't seen in so long. Unfortunately I didn't get to do as mch hanging out (READ: hanging out, catching up, and drinking) as planned and wanted because I was sick. I did make it to the fancy ass mall they have there-the Galleria-wht like 500 stores. I got a new Swatch Watch ( i have watches, yes, but i dont have any dressy or nicer ones), plus used my Sephora gift card for some more Philosophy stuff, and got a sweet super cute light blue patent leather wristlet for $12!
Anyways, the drive to and from Midway as well as the flight to and from Houston were uneventful and fine. Despite that whole phobia of flying.
And I'm still sick, but getting better, I think. Friday I woke up with some really nasty congestion and head stuff. Over the weekend I was miserable. I'm less congested now, but I'm having trouble with coughing and haven't had much of a voice this week. Awesome.
In other news, I had my comp rehearsals started this week. Monday we had a read thru and it went really well. They really seemed to appreciate the play for the reasons I do and see the importance of the social issues involved. I started blocking last night, and it's coming along :).
Here's a picture of Claire and I. We've been friends since we were born, and our parents friends since they were younger than us.

happy as a clam???? whoa there...
So the auditions for my senior comp are tomorrow night. SHIT. 7PM REGINA 16. BE THERE. im not nervous about my comp, im just nervous no one will audition since the other 2 girls comping within a week of me had their auditions tuesday...oh well, we'll see.
Also, I;m flying to Houston Friday...driving to Midway Friday morning...that will make tomorrow night fantastic...NOT. But I get to wear THE dress :)
Lastly, I went to update my IPod since ive gotten some new music, and would like as much as possible to have it for the drive to chicago+flying to houston. Well, because of the recent issues with me and computers (remember that time my hard drive crashed the week of directing finals?) some of (read a lot of) my music SOMEHOW ended up in itunes as duplicates, PLUS all of the purchased music is in there 3 or 4 times for numerous reasons. so, needless to say i could not update my 30GB ipod w/o taking care of stuff. I'm too lazy right now to actually delete the stuff, cuz its weird--some of it is in the library twice or thrice, but not on the hard drive that many times, so i have to be careful about deleting. So i jsut went through the "show duplicates" and started unchecking stuff that was duplicated. Then I did my "iPod Spring Cleaning". There's so much on there that i dont listen to. Anyways, after all of the unchecking, my updated Ipod now has only 14GB instead of 30+. Whoa. Also, don't worry, all that music isnt filling my hd, i have it all on an external.
peace, love, painted nails.

1st important thing to write about: I got shoes to go with the uberuber cute dress I got for the wedding. Brown Patent Leather Peep Toe Heels. YAY :)
2nd important thing to write about: I met with the Executive Director from the Indianapolis Opera, where I interned this summer, today. He and I talked about my future and contacts etc. He told me that I'm outgoing and all, but I'm too closed to uncertainty and taking risks. I don't know if that's true or not...I've spent most of the day thinking about that and what it means and possibilities because of that...damnitt.
3rd important thing to write about: Tomorrow is Frankie's annual christmas bash. YAY!!!!! ALL FREAKING FIVE OF US will be there. I AM SO EXCITED. Plus Ann's awesome boyfriend Duffy, and Smiley's coming with me.
4th important thing to write about: Supplies to finish putting together my book for ACTF cost $91 today. Balls.
5th important thing to write about: Crabs is coming over. Yay. We're going to watch The Holiday. If you haven't seen it...you need to. NOW. But more importantly we're going to girl talk--and GOD ONLY KNOWS how much I need that right now. Seriously.
6th important thing to write about: I leave for South Bend/ACTF on Tuesday...

lots of advice
So here I am switching to this new type of blog. I figured I'd move up a little bit in the world. Plus it's a new trend, and who's to say that following trends is never a good thing? Although, I must warn you: my use of proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization (or spelling) might not be the norm.
In the interest that it's about time to watch the Colts game, I'm gonna repost what I posted today in my old blog--at livejournal.com:
"im really stupid sometimes. like beyond stupid. i cant ever just let things be or "let go and let god" as they say or let things happen the way they are supposed to happen. instead my mind just races and races and races and simple things that normal people understand and get my mind just keeps going and cant wrap itself around them because it just keeps going. and it makes me so tense and i cant stop dwelling on things and thinking about and analyzing things. instead of just accepting and letting and being and trusting i go crazy, i ask a million obnoxious questions, i drive other people crazy, and GAH!!!! and im doing it right now. i hope it doesnt ruin this chance i might have at one of having a relationship with probably the most amazing guy ive ever met. im just so terrified that im going to blow it. and me being so terrified and analytical and crazy means that the chances of me blowing it (aka driving him crazy or away) sky rocket. WHY, GOD, WHY CAN'T I JUST LET THINGS HAPPEN AND BE NORMAL!?!?!?!? id really like to be able to do that right about now."
Also, mom and I went shopping today for a dress for me to wear to the wedding I have to go to in Houston the first weekend of the semester. I ended up finding one right away (4th dress i tried on). SUPER CUTE. Brown with light turquoise (my fave color combo) and uber on sale. The best part??? TWO SIZES SMALLER THAN THE LAST DRESS I BOUGHT!!!!!!!!!
