choose one or taste them all

This is a post of many short and random things...

I believe in tradition. I really do. I'm the first person to admit that I'm afraid of change. I joke about it a lot. But seriously, changes in things that are going well freaks me out a little bit.

But, I do know that in certain situations (maybe even in many situations), you have to adapt, you have to change, you have to make alterations or the tradition can't live on at all in any form.

Also, I've started to notice how much I value loyalty. I tend to consider myself a loyal person, but the point of me pointing this out isn't to boost me up. It's really just background for me saying that I've learned how much I really, really value loyalty in others.

*steps off of soap box*

As with my recent rekindling of love for Josh Groban, I have also rekindled my love for John Mayer.

And more and more signs of my "addictive personality" in my younger years keep popping up. Interesting.

My senior year in high school, I got this virus that looked like little pimples in my throat. Gross I know. They hurt like crazy-both in a stinging, raw throaty kind of way, and in a I-feel-like-something-is-permanently-lodged-in-my-throat way. The doctor said it was caused by a continual wearing down of my body. I had pushed myself too far and done too much and my body was sort of shutting down. Those pimple like bumps appeared in my throat in the last couple of days, and they came to fruition today. Awesome. Maybe I'll test out the good old Health and Wellness one last time here at SMC.

Tomorrow is hooding and the honors covocation. Scary stuff. Also, I'm done with college classes. Yikes. Aside from a performance final/paper to accompany it and a portfolio of my internship work, I am done with college. Oh yeah, and actually graduating too...details details.

In addition to...

Also HAHAHAHA and WTF?!?
Very well put.

They tried to make her go to rehab...she should've said "take me now"

I hope you all enjoyed my version of a play-by-play of last night's grammy's. of course, it was mostly of the performances--cuz that's what I love to watch the most.

This is pretty fugging hilarious. Courtesy of the Fug Girls.

Also, if you want my help, I'll be more than happy to do absolutely all that I can. All you have to do is be (genuinely) nice to me and treat me like you want me to treat you. Is that so hard? Or too much to ask?

Lastly, wrote a cover letter tonight. Dad's (the grammar and writing nazi) is proofing it tomorrow. I'm taking my resume to Melissa for one last go over, and then once it's all editted and printed, I'm mailing them off to IRT and hopefully ACT in Indy by Wednesday. HOLY SHIT. Plus, sent some emails and made a call today. This future thing is scary as all hell. And I'd ask to go back to K-8 or high school, but I hated those. And I don't want to do homework anymore, so I guess going back to first year at SMC is out of the picture. And I want to move out of my parent's house...looks like the real world is the only option. Damn.

11 days til my 22nd birthday. WHOA

I'm watching the Grammy's right now, and will be posting my thread of commentary.

The Beatles were nicely honored. A sweet performance from Love, their Cirque de Soliel show, and Across the Universe.

Cher (in a weird dress) introduced the Beyonce/Tina Turner performance. I really really loved Beyonce's introduction of Tina. She acknowledged a bunch of classic and fantastic female singers. Her dance she did with it was...interesting, but the whole idea was great. Their performance together was good. And despite the fact that Beyonce looked like she was wearing a swimsuit from 1950, she was gorgeous (Tina being gorgeous goes without saying) big thighs and all. (although it bothers me when people talk about Beyonce being a bigger woman. shes not actually that big. She's bigger than most of hollywood, etc, but shes no where near plus sized.)

Thus far, Amy Winehouse has won a couple. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole "her not allowed in the US" thing. I think shes kinda a nut case for all the drugs she does-and good for her for going to rehab. But her music is great. I lovelovelove it.

Aretha was fantastic. and Looked great. Now Feist is performing.

The guy who won the best rap/hip-hop music award (wasn't paying attention to his name) called out the people who played the 'wrap it up' music. He shouldn't have taken so damned long. He said "I'd like to thank my momma for all her prayers. that woulda been a good time to shut the music off." and then kept talking. Who was more rude?

Stevie WOnder's introduction of Alicia keys was great. His impression--even better. ANd SPOT ON. and her performance was great too.

Ok, Favorite thing thus far. The performance of Rhapsody In Blue. Hands.Down.

You can DEFINITLEY tell that Amy Winehouse is in rehab or going thru withdrawl or whatever. She seemed completely drunk (like shitfaced) for her performance and award acceptance. Granted, ive never seen her do anything live.

Josh Groban, will you marry me? That was beautiful.

Ok. theres my thoughts on the Grammys tonight. Well, on what I watched. I had it on the whole time, but I didn;t pay attention the whole time.

the entire world served....

Today at work in the costume studio:

Me: *continues on talking and talking as I work*
Melissa: I don't want to listen to "the booty song"
Me: I got a new CD!!!!!
Carol: do you have it with you?
Me: YES! *gets CD from bag* everyone's sure i can put this in? *puts in CD*
Melissa: Hey Deet, I'll give you $100 if you don't talk for the next 18 minutes!
Me: 18 Minutes?!? OK!
Melissa: You lost!
Me: No, I can do this. 18 minutes.
Carol: 18 minutes. Starting....NOW
Me: *mouths 'now'*

That's what I did at work today. I went like 22 minutes. It was impressive. In those 22 minutes of silence, I realized that I have to ACTIVELY not talk. Most people can just not talk, but for me, it's an ACTIVE thing. I have to think about it and try. Whereas, talking...is a natural thing, half the time I don't realize I'm doing it. Whoa.

That new CD??? Nicole Atkins. I recently took some people's advice and got Google Reader (LOVE IT) and then subscribed to some feeds, pop culture and celebrities, and one of the articles mentioned her.
"Take a little bit of Norah Jones, a dash of Regina Spektor and a hint of Ronnie Spector"

And although I'm anti-myspace, she has a page that has her album on it and you can listen to it. Check it out.

Lastly. For real. A good friend of mine had this as her away message...and it applies DIRECTLY to me. "
Never allow someone to be your priority, while allowing yourself to be their option."

happy as a clam???? whoa there...

So the auditions for my senior comp are tomorrow night. SHIT. 7PM REGINA 16. BE THERE. im not nervous about my comp, im just nervous no one will audition since the other 2 girls comping within a week of me had their auditions tuesday...oh well, we'll see.

Also, I;m flying to Houston Friday...driving to Midway Friday morning...that will make tomorrow night fantastic...NOT. But I get to wear THE dress :)

Lastly, I went to update my IPod since ive gotten some new music, and would like as much as possible to have it for the drive to chicago+flying to houston. Well, because of the recent issues with me and computers (remember that time my hard drive crashed the week of directing finals?) some of (read a lot of) my music SOMEHOW ended up in itunes as duplicates, PLUS all of the purchased music is in there 3 or 4 times for numerous reasons. so, needless to say i could not update my 30GB ipod w/o taking care of stuff. I'm too lazy right now to actually delete the stuff, cuz its weird--some of it is in the library twice or thrice, but not on the hard drive that many times, so i have to be careful about deleting. So i jsut went through the "show duplicates" and started unchecking stuff that was duplicated. Then I did my "iPod Spring Cleaning". There's so much on there that i dont listen to. Anyways, after all of the unchecking, my updated Ipod now has only 14GB instead of 30+. Whoa. Also, don't worry, all that music isnt filling my hd, i have it all on an external.

peace, love, painted nails.

sad songs say so much

Also, to update my always updating "movies i've recently watched" list: Legally Blonde, Maid in Manhattan (I just had this URGE over break to watch it...weird.), The First Wives Club.

Currently putting in to fall asleep to: Clue. Never fails.

In addition to that, tonight I showered to the genius of Elton John. He really is fantastic. And his music is perfect for my current state of life. Whoa, I accidentally just typed stage instead of state. Freudian Slip much?
